Vladimir Kafelnikov

Born in Crimée, Vladimir Kafelnikov studied trumpet at the conservatory of Kiev. Laureate of the Concours national d’instruments à vent, he starts his carreer in the opera orchestra of Kiev (1970-1980) and then, from 1980-1990, holds the position of principal trumpet at one of the most prestigious orchestra’s of the ex-USSR: the Leningrad Philharmonic, under Evgueni Mravinski. At the same time, he plays numberous chambermusic concerts and solo performances with all kinds of ensembles and symphonic orchestra’s. As principal trumpet of the l’Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine since 1991, Vladimir Kafelnikov has interpreted the concerto for piano, trumpet and stringorchestra n° 1 by D. Chostakovitch with Barry Douglas and the ONBA.
